How do I describe Katie's Myth Busters?

September 03, 2024

Our Katie Porter event last Tuesday night was a huge success! For those of you who were there, THANK YOU! People brought so many treats, we had a bunch of first timers and our social half-hour was a good one! And how do I describe Katie's Myth Busters? Smart, fun and funny, interesting...we got an inside view of polling and a deeper understanding of the electoral process, what it means and how it works! Katie is always interesting, and such a good teacher!

She also encouraged us all to WALK for our candidates, to be involved at the local level and to work for a swing district campaign until the end! We must work for our Congressional candidates because the road to success runs right through California (and New York), and we have four candidates right here in Orange County and in nearby Corona who need our help - Dave Min, Derek Tran, Mike Levin and Will Rollins. There is no shortage of work to be done for Washington RIGHT HERE in these races. Most especially, Katie emphasized that we all need to volunteer to knock on doors. "Knock loud, be proud," and don't be afraid to canvass. It's fun, interesting and makes the biggest difference for the win!

DemOC PAC has maxed out on these candidates financially, but we haven't maxed out on volunteer hours, so let's get out there!

Lita
Dear DemOC PAC Members and Friends,

The State of the Races

Can you believe we have met our Fight for the Future goal of $110,000 and thanks to several new members and more contributors at our meeting last Tuesday, we surpassed it! Thank you to all!

As I told everyone, we have given $105,500 of the money we have raised. And there is still more to give, so we continue to raise money. Our chair of the Political Research Committee, Chris Marx, has written us the following note:

Several Democratic House candidates’ chances have increased significantly since Kamala Harris and Tim Walz became the Democratic nominees. Democratic voter registration is up in several swing states and some recent polls also show this momentum. The Political Research Committee is targeting House races across the Country that could give Democrats the majority. We focus on the House because US Senate races have more national attention, which means those candidates raise substantially more money than House candidates.

Through your generous contributions, DemOC PAC has donated to 26 House candidates in 13 states. Most of those races are rated toss-up. However, there are more candidates who need our support, plus we have not given the maximum allowed under FEC regulations to some strong candidates.

Your continued financial support means that the PAC can fund more candidates who can help Democrats take back the House, which in turn could drive up overall Democratic turnout. A high Democratic turnout will help vulnerable Democratic Senate candidates win, and will elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Some of the races we are looking at include:

Alaska - Republicans are targeting Democratic incumbent Mary Peltola.
Iowa 03 - Currently has a Republican incumbent. Cook Report rates this Leans R; however, a poll showed this race even, and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has invested in this race.
Virginia 02 - Currently has a Republican incumbent; Cook Report rates this Leans R. This is on the DCCC’s “Red to Blue” target list, and Biden carried this district in 2020.
Washington 03 - Currently has a Democratic incumbent in a Republican-leaning district. Cook rates this toss-up. The NRCC is targeting this race.
Wisconsin 03 - Currently has a Republican incumbent; Cook Report rates this Leans R. This race is on the DCCC’s “Red to Blue” list.

Districts with Republican incumbents that are longer shots but worth watching: Iowa 01, Michigan 10, Pennsylvania 10, WI 01.
We also could consider increasing donations to candidates the PAC previously donated to, in districts in Arizona, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

All of this movement, all of these great chances give us more opportunities to give money. So here we are, having reached our goal but asking once again. As I said on Tuesday, as Chris Marx said, and as this email shows you, with all of this opportunity, we must continue to send money to these races so we can win the House and hold the Senate and, of course, win the White House!

Please jump in with $25, $250 or $2500...CLICK HERE TO GIVE whatever works for your pocketbook, so we can continue to support our Democrats in tight races!

Thank you so much!
