We are so looking forward to hearing from State Senator Dave Min, one of our candidates for the 47th Congressional District.
Senator Min was elected in 2020 to represent Orange County’s 37th State Senate District. In the Senate, Senator Min is focused on gun violence prevention, climate action, economic development and innovation, and investing in public education. He Chairs the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee, which has jurisdiction over the state’s environmental stewardship, including protection of California’s public lands and coastline, oil and gas regulation, and preserving biodiversity. He was previously a law professor at UC Irvine.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a nonpartisan, grassroots movement fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. Volunteers work to pass stronger gun laws and close the loopholes that jeopardize our families' safety, and work to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. Moms Demand Action is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with nearly 10 million supporters.
Ann Haley, DemOC PAC Secretary (the person who does all our publicity) also serves as Elections Lead for OC Moms Demand Action and she will be among the Moms Demand Action volunteers participating in our conversation.

Professor Gottfredson was Professor and Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost at the University of California, Irvine. He left UCI in 2012 to become the President of the University of Oregon. Prior to joining the University of California, he was Professor of Management and Policy, Law, Sociology, and Psychology at the University of Arizona, where he served as Vice President for Undergraduate Education and Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
Professor Gottfredson’s research and teaching specialties are theories of crime, delinquency and victimization, and the effects of the criminal justice system. He has published numerous books and articles in the professional literature about the causes of crime and about crime policy.
He has frequently consulted with state, county and federal governments concerning criminal justice policy and served as the Director of the Criminal Justice Research Center, a private not-for-profit corporation in New York. A Fellow of the American Society of Criminology, in 2016 Professor Gottfredson was named “Chancellor’s Professor” at UCI.
