Looking forward to Robert Armenta

Dear DemOC PAC Members and Friends,

I spent yesterday afternoon watching Nicole Wallace on MSNBC and she and her guests are as stunned as I am by what is happening with Trump and his racist rants, his despicable North Carolina rally and the fact that only FOUR Republicans voted to condemn the racist demagogue who is our current president. Ever more critical that he is voted out in 2020. If you haven't, be sure to watch Deadline White House from Thursday, July 18. It's worth it.

Now, more than ever, I look forward to gathering with my friends next Tuesday. It will be so good to see you! We will talk together about taking back the White House and the Senate and keeping the House in 2020. We have important issues to discuss when we are joined by...

Robert Armenta
Vice President of Public Affairs
Planned Parenthood
Orange and San Bernardino Counties

Robert will discuss the "Stop the Bans" actions and help us learn what is at stake and what we can do here in California about this most critical issue.

As you know, 10 state legislatures have enacted bans on abortion care in the first five months of 2019. With womens' rights to make decisions about their own bodies at stake, we need to stand together and learn what we can do to help those in states where this is happening.
Obviously, these bans are at the top of the Republican agenda and it is critical that we learn and take action NOW.

I hope you enjoyed the debates and had a great Fourth. Yesterday, we had one departure from the Democratic field and one entry...Eric Swalwell has returned to Congress just as Tom Steyer has thrown his hat into the ring. Things certainly aren't boring! I am on a listening tour about which presidential candidates people favor and my favorites are the same as most of the people I speak to. But we live in a rarefied atmosphere here on the left coast...it will be interesting to see where this all ends up...as long as it is with a Democrat in the White House! And, we must take the Senate as well. Speaking of the Senate, former fighter pilot Amy McGrath entered the race this week to take on Mitch McConnell!

We are very excited to about our upcoming meeting and hope you will join us to hear about this crucial topic as we welcome...

Convention News!

Dear DemOC PAC Members and Friends,

For those of you not glued to the television, Facebook or Instagram this weekend, the California Democratic Party held its Convention in San Francisco and the view from here was FANTASTIC. Many DemOC PAC members and officers were part of the event and many others from OC as well. The party elected its new State Chair, Rusty Hicks. Also at the convention was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi along with nearly all of the presidential candidates and Committee Chairs Maxine Waters and Adam Schiff.

And, at the Women's Caucus, introducing the Speaker of the House (she said "Oh, Hi Mom" as Nancy entered the room) was our next week's speaker, Christine Pelosi!

We are beyond thrilled to host an evening with Christine Pelosi, member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and just re-elected chair of the Women's Caucus for the California Democratic Party. Christine will share with us her insights on an amazing state Convention as well as what is happening in Washington, with us.

With a glass-ceiling breaking FIVE women in the race,
Christine Pelosi
will speak about:

“Democratic Women Leading the Way”
focusing on the
Women’s Caucus, the Attack on Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood,
Women’s Health and fully funding ACA.

QUICK UPDATE...ON THIS MORNING'S EMAIL THE PRICE FOR NON-MEMBERS WAS INCORRECT. IF YOU PAID, YOUR TICKET IS GOOD BUT IF NOT, THE NEW PRICE IS NOW THE CORRECT PRICE. THANKS, SORRY FOR THE ERROR, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON THE 11TH!

I hope everyone is well and surviving the daily onslaught of Trump. Every day, we are grateful that the Congress is run by Democrats, that 2020 is on the horizon, and that Nancy Pelosi leads the House. And, speaking of the Speaker, her daughter is our special guest at the very exciting event we are hosting in just two weeks!

NORBERTO SANTANA WAS FANTASTIC!

IF YOU MISSED HIM, HE PROMISED TO RETURN!

Norberto Santana, the publisher of Voice of OC, was a dynamic and inspiring speaker. He talked about the nonprofit model for journalism and the critical importance of investigative reporting at the local level. Norberto explained how corporations have been buying up newspapers around the country for years. As a result, the mission of most papers and other media outlets has become to focus on entertainment in order to sell products. By contrast, the nonprofit model of Voice of OC and ProPublica has a mission to inform and engage with community about the choices facing public officials. The daily goal of Voice of OC is to inform the public and help connect the dots between local, state and federal issues, and to show the connection between campaign contributions and public officials and their policies.

We all left the meeting as subscribers to the Voice of OC and supporters of Norberto and what he is doing. We look forward to welcoming him at our future meetings. Thank goodness he is dedicated to our county and our community!
